William Morris College is set in several acres of gardens which provides training opportunities for students in estate management, gardening and horticulture.
Different areas of the outdoor space are dedicated to leisure activities, vegetable growing and decorative planting.
Workshops offer vocational training as well as an opportunity to learn new skills. The garden and estate workshops offer the chance to work with, and learn about, nature and living processes. Students experience growing vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit. They gain an in-depth experience of the work associated with seasonal changes as well as specific gardening skills and sequences. The produce grown in the garden is used within the college kitchens providing students with the sense of contributing to the needs of the community.
The students assist in maintaining the college grounds as well as contributing to the development of projects such as the creation of the peace garden.
