The Woodwork workshop is housed in a purpose-built timber framed building on the edge of the campus’s large front lawn. It was planned and constructed by the woodwork teacher with the help of the students.
Our workshops offer vocational training as well as an opportunity to learn new skills. Students create wooden artefacts of beauty, usefulness, durability and high quality finish and workmanship. Through appropriate teaching in the use of tools and materials, the students actively participate in this creative process, no matter what their level of ability or motivation.
No power tools are used, just hand tool to cut, shape and finish the wood. Through direct (literally ‘hands-on’) experience, the students use their hands to shape wood into a useful artefact. The student gains self-confidence, pride and satisfaction from the results of their work.
